Marching Band:
An important component of our band program is The Marching Blackshirts of Waukesha South.
The Marching Blackshirts have an intense season each fall. In addition to performances at selected home football games, providing the National Anthem and half-time shows, we perform at a number of venues throughout Wisconsin and Illinois.
In 2011, our Marching Band performed during My24’s Thursday Night Lights show, televised locally on Channel 24, as part of a South evening Football game. South’s very own Marchfest in 2011, marked the 22nd anniversary of the show! South welcomes marching bands at Marchfest from throughout the state of Wisconsin and featured UW LaCrosse’s Marching Band in an exhibition performance at the conclusion of our show. In 2010, South participated in Northwestern University’s Halftime program that featured thousands of Midwest Bands, performed Opening Ceremonies for Six Flags Great America, performed in Waukesha North High School’s Bandfest, and helped with fall grounds-keeping chores at the Waukesha Public Library as part of a Community Service Day.
The Marching Blackshirts of Waukesha South can also be seen this year in Carroll University's Homecoming Parade, Waukesha's Christmas Parade, and in the Waukesha Memorial Day Parade.
