Fundraisers:
FundraisersThis year we have many of the old favorites, giving some a rest and trying out a couple of new fundraisers. Also, we may add a few smaller opportunities throughout the year as we see need. Fundraising for the band is the key to keeping the band fee at an affordable level for all students. We encourage everyone to take it seriously and make the effort to sell to family, friends and neighbors. Fundraisers also provide an opportunity to support your band, and in many cases, save some money at the same time.
MARKET DAY - Earn money for your student's passbook account by purchasing food items you already buy at the grocery store for your family. If you have been looking for a place to get your Market Day favorites, or if you would like to try Market Day, here is your chance. Go to www.marketday.com, and register by creating a username and password, using the Whittier school account number: 12705 (South shares the Market Day task with Whittier). If you are already a customer, be sure that account 12705 is selected. If you want to fill out a paper order form (available on the wall of knowledge) you will need to return the paper order form to Terri Como, 331 S. Greenfield Avenue. All profits for your order will go to your student's passbook account. Check back often on the front page of this website for order placement and pickup date/times.
CITRUS FRUIT SALE - From Mid October to Nov 2nd, for delivery planned Dec 1st (may change due to weather/pick date of fruit).
Cases of tree-ripened oranges and grapefruits are shipped directly from Florida Indian River Groves just in time for the holidays. Students sell and turn in their orders in late October. In early Dec normally on a Saturday, the fruit will arrive at school where the students pick up and deliver to their customers. Support the band and give a great gift! Orders are due to be returned to the band safe by November 2nd. This year we are encouraging you to sell as many boxes as you can with the first $25 profit per family going to the band, the balance will go to the students passbook account. If you do not want to sell then we want you to donate $25 to the band, remember the band fees were reduced so that the fundraisers will make up the difference. Below is the approx profit per box.

MILLER PARK CONCESSIONS, April thru Sept. Parents attend a two hour training session in spring. Select the dates you are willing to work. For an approximate shift of 7 hours, each worker is paid a minimum of $50. This past summer, parents earned $14,800 not including $1,000 in tip money. This fundraiser requires a dedicated, dependable group of volunteers to keep it going, but it can also raise some major league funds. Get a buddy and have some fun at Miller Park.
CHILI FEED, October 12th 2007. This annual event is run by band parents on Homecoming weekend. Band parents are asked to donate a 5 qt. bucket of chili (recipe supplied) and a food item. BUYCOSTUMES (you dont really have to buy a costune) Limited to two dates. This has been offered to us by a local agency, they operate as a fundraiser, several local high schools participate Lutheran etc. Throughout Sept/Oct on weekends they staff an operation for a business based in New Berlin (Moorland Rd) this is a web based costume company called www.buycostumes.com. Because of Halloween they have too much business for normal staff, so they allow fundraisers to pick and pack the orders at their site at weekends. We have been offered the opportunity to participate. Typically the agency wants about 25 people. The warehouse is clean and safe, well run. Each person can earn $6.50 per hour, as a group we are expected to participate for 2 days (if we cannot get 25 then we could participate with a smaller group). This gives earning power of $104 to each person, this will go straight to the students passbook account. A great way to top up after the initial fees. It will be on a first come first served basis the ratio of student to adult needs to be 5 to 1, more info in pdf downloads here.
